Austria x Reader: The Duet

It had been a long day for (y/n). She had gone through so much today; her boyfriend broke up with her among other things such as she failed her important test and would need to make it up but mostly the boyfriend thing. She was crushed, she had loved him with all her heart, given him her all. She had stayed late after class, she sat in her desk almost emotionless until she snapped out of her trancelike state. She sighed and got up and began to walk down the empty halls to her locker when she passed the Music room. It was odd but she heard some music being played inside. Everyone had gone already though, it was getting late…
(y/n) couldn’t help but peak her head inside and saw a rather feminine but attractive man at the piano. His fingers were flawlessly flying across the keys. The music seemed to make (y/n) calm down, all the pain from the day forgotten. He man didn’t even notice her and continued to play, his eyes closed and obviously in the music, immersed. The man was Roderich Edelstein, a man who (y/n) had in math class; although he hardly spoke except to complain. She had always thought he was sort of stuck up, although he was raised as an Aristocrat so it was understandable. After a while (y/n) decided to leave before she was noticed. She went home humming the tune to herself. She herself was a music player; she played the Violin and the clarinet. She went to sleep happily that night as she thought and dreamt of that beautiful music.
For the next week (y/n) stopped by and listened to Roderich play. It brought her happiness. It even revived her love of playing her instrument. She had stopped because her boyfriend… well … Ex now… told her she was terrible and to stop because instruments suck. She had done so, not wanting him to leave her or anything. Once again she was happy like she used to. But one day something happened.
(y/n) was playing her violin in the practice room of the school and had gotten into her music. She loved the feel of her bow in hand and the noise that came out, she was so caught up in it she didn’t notice her Ex had came in and saw her. He was rather angry to see her so happy without him, he wanted her to be lost without him. Angrily he walked over and took the violin from her hands. Shocked (y/n) looked over at who had taken it and her eyes widened when she saw who it was. He quickly smirked and threw it to the ground. “You don’t need this. How many times do I have to tell you that you have no talent and should quit music?”
“I zought she vas wonderful.” A smooth accented voice said as the man named Roderich approached. He walked with his head held high and music sheets tucked in between his arm and side as he walked over, his hair bouncing a little bit but his one curl bouncing much more.  He sat down the music and then faced both (y/n) and Steven ( y/n’s ex for this story). His expression was serious and his lips seemed to be slightly pursed in thought, bringing his cute beauty mark near his lips to attention. After a moment he spoke in a cold tone. “Jou,” he said turning his attention to Steven, “Should never speak to a lady like zhat.” Roderich huffed slightly and bent down to pick up the pieces of the broken violin. “Und doing zhis to an instrument is atrocious!” He glared daggers at Stephen and set the pieces down on a table nearby. “Jou are a disgrace of a human.” Roderich hissed out. Stephen being the jerk he was rolled his eyes and walked out.
“Und now abou-“ Roderich began but heard sobs from behind him. He quickly turned around to find (y/n) on her knees crying, her hands covering her face. Roderich gently went on one knee and lifted her head, receiving a shocked expression from her. Roderich gently wiped away (y/n)’s tears. He smiled softly and then spoke kindly. “A beautiful young lady like jou shouldn’t be crying over a fool like him.” He then gently offered his hand and (y/n) took it and he stood up and brought the hand to his lips and placed a short but sweet kiss on the top of it. “I quite like jour playing style (y/n). If jou would… I vould love to play a duet vith jou on zhe Violin vhile I play zhe Piano.” (y/n) blushed a bit because the musically talented and… attractive Roderich asked for a duet. “A-ah… well I would… But my violin is broken.” She replied frowning and then looked down.
Roderich smiled slightly and walked to a music locker and pulled out a case and opened it, revealing a very beautiful and expensive looking Violin. “Jou may play mine. I have anozher one at home so I don’t use zhis one very much.” He pulled it out gently and walked over, placing it in her hands. “I trust jou von’t break it.” He said and then chuckled lightly. He sat down at the piano.
“But I co-” (y/n) started but was interrupted by a familiar sounding song on the piano. She sighed a bit and brought the violin in place and closed her eyes. She let out a deep breath and then began to play, the violin surprisingly was in tune. The two sounds blended perfectly as they both played. After a few songs later (y/n) looked at the time, she really had to go.
“Here is you-” (y/n) started before she was cut off by the beautiful man.
“Nein, keep it. Jou deserve it.” Roderich said and then smiled slightly. “Keep making beautiful music (y/n). I’ll see you in math.” He said and then once again started playing. There was obviously no point in arguing with Roderich. He seemed to be a stubborn man. She packed up but once she reached the door the music stopped and she heard a voice and a sentence that made her smile a bit and then nod as she went on her way home.
“We should play again sometime.”
